What makes a top quality pie truly shine is the perfect pairing - a complementary side dish or accompaniment that takes the taste experience to a whole new level.

Classic Pairings: Mash and Gravy

When it comes to savoury pies, one accompaniment that never fails to please is creamy mashed potatoes. The smooth and velvety texture of the mashed potatoes, combined with the savoury goodness of the pie’s gravy, creates the perfect contrast to the flaky pastry and delicious filling.

Whether it's a traditional steak and ale pie, a hearty chicken, ham and leek pie, or a comforting mushroom and asparagus pie, the combination of pie, mash and gravy is a match made in heaven.

And let's not forget about the gravy. A good gravy can make or break a pie. It's all about finding the perfect balance of flavours - the savoury richness of the gravy complementing the filling without overpowering it.

We think our pies have enough gravy within them, but you may wish to supplement it. Please choose a good quality gravy that won’t take anything away from the taste of the pie. And if you’re someone who doesn’t like mashed potatoes too much, thankfully, there are other options…

Our favourite sweet pie is our apple pie with a Cheddar cheese crust, but the black cherry and apricot ones fly off the shelves too! All our pies are delicious on their own, but custard, cream and ice cream undoubtedly finish them off very well.

While pies are undoubtedly delicious, sometimes you crave something a little bit lighter or different. That's where our squiches come in. A squiche is quite simply a square quiche, combining the best of both worlds - the crisp pastry of a pie and the creamy filling of a quiche.

When it comes to pairing squiches, the options are endless. From classic combinations like bacon and cheese, to popular others like spinach and feta, there's a squiche to suit every taste.

If you're serving squiches as part of a brunch spread, fresh fruit and coffee work really well. For a light lunch or dinner, a side salad is the way to go. The crispness of the greens, combined with a tangy dressing, adds a refreshing element to the creamy filling of the squiche. And if you're feeling particularly indulgent, a side of crispy fries is rarely wrong.
