National Picnic Week: Planning the Ultimate Squiche and Scotch Egg Picnic
We thought, with National Picnic Week approaching, it’s high time we helped you to plan your ultimate picnic!

Did you know that Fortnum and Mason invented the Scotch Egg in 1738? You won’t be surprised to hear that we prefer our own Scotch Eggs and Black Pudding Scotch Eggs! Here's our guide on how to create the perfect picnic:
- Choose Your Location: Whether it's a local park, a scenic countryside spot, an outdoor event or even your own garden, choose a picnic location that offers plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the sunshine.
- Invite your Friends: Choose the people you love to spend lazy days with, especially if they appreciate good food!
- Pack Your Basket: Alongside your Squiches and Scotch Eggs, consider adding some easy-to-eat snacks like fresh fruit or crudités with dip. The main thing is to keep it simple and stress free.
- Don't Forget the Drinks: No picnic is complete without refreshing beverages to wash down your delicious Squiches. Pack a cooler with a selection of chilled drinks, from juices, sparkling water and lemonade for the kids, to wine, fizz or beer for the adults. Don’t forget drivers have alcohol free options too!
- Bring the Essentials: Remember to pack essentials like napkins, utensils, plates and a picnic blanket, not forgetting a rubbish bag – let's keep our outdoor spaces beautiful for everyone to enjoy.
- Enjoy the Moment: Once everything is packed and ready to go, it's time to relax and enjoy the moment. Spread out your picnic, savour each bite of your Squiches and soak up the good food, wonderful company and the natural beauty of nature all around you.
