Mud Foods, or "Mud Pies" as we have been nicknamed, is a small family company based in West Sussex.

We produce delicious, wholesome and unashamedly tasty pies and 'squiches' (that's square quiches to the uninitiated!) made from the finest quality fresh, free-range and local ingredients.

Christian Barrington (Chief Pie Maker and Inventor) and his lovely wife, Toni, are the husband and wife team behind Mud Pies.

Their aim was to bring tasty, gourmet pies to a farmers’ market or local retailer near to you for the ultimate homely, wholesome and delicious pie experience.

Inspired by a fond childhood memory of his mother and grandmother making homemade pies and disillusioned by a fairly dull work life in sales, Christian set about creating his very own pie company.

Armed with a passion for tasty pies, a dream and mere fifty pie tins, Christian started producing his first batch of pies in a small unit in Chichester.

More than 5 years later, Christian and Toni have moved to larger premises in Midhurst. They now produce many thousands of pies and squiches per week, based on family recipes and using delicious locally grown, reared or produced ingredients.

Their secret? A ‘butter rich’ pastry that is 50% thinner than the standard pie.
